Dunaway | CRIADO's own Vice President and Principal, Cristina Criado, PE had a blast at the 5th Annual Mavs 100 | UTA Business last week! Presented by Arlington TX Economic Development Corporation, MAVS100 is a celebration of Entrepreneurs designed to honor the 100 fastest-growing The University of Texas at Arlington alumni-owned or UTA alumni-led businesses. Congratulations to all the nominated companies!

In honor of #NationalHospitalWeek, we’re reflecting on a special project – Cook Children's Health Care System located in the Town of Prosper. This campus, which opened in 2023, is the first hospital Cook Children's has built outside of its flagship campus in Fort Worth and serves to support families in Collin County, one of the fastest-growing counties in the entire country. Dunaway provided #civil and #structural engineering, #survey, and #planning + #landscapearchitecture services for the new campus, which features a 15,000-square-foot urgent care and primary care building and a second building featuring a 103,000-square-foot medical office, ambulatory surgery center, and imaging center. The campus includes a 20-bed emergency department, a 10-bed pediatric ICU, operating and procedure rooms, a medical/surgical unit, an outpatient infusion center, imaging services, a retail pharmacy, laboratory services, and pharmacy services – all under one roof!

Members from Dunaway’s #survey team, Alan Moore, Dayton Hamilton, Clayton Sargent, Joe Sinz, Adam Shaw, and Stephen Schaffhouser were flying high after participating in a recent Drone Day event! Hosted by Stephen F. Austin State University, the event featured demonstrations and informative presentations on topics ranging from “Current Topics with Drones” to the “Use of Drones in the National Forests.”

We had a wonderful time at the open house for Criado & Associates, a Dunaway company's new office location last week! During the celebration, CEO and Principal Chris Wilde, P.E. and Senior Vice President and Principal, Kervin M. Campbell, PE had the honor of cutting the ribbon alongside Vice President and Principal, Cristina Criado – ushering in an exciting new space that the team will enjoy for years to come. Congrats to all involved!

Dunaway was honored to participate in Cristo Rey Fort Worth College Prep's "Presentation Day,” where our four interns presented what they’ve learned while working at Dunaway for the last year with our #GIS and #civil teams. They shared their key takeaways, favorite memories (mostly food-related), and their plans for the future! Shout out to Matt Patyk, CPSWQ, Mason Fitzwater, Tim Todaro, Eric Woolsey, Chris Biggers, and Gregory Wescott, P.E. for the direction and mentoring they’ve provided the students during this school year. We look forward to continuing this program next year!

Dunaway continues to execute our vision to be the leading independent multi-discipline design firm in Texas with the acquisition of Criado & Associates, a Dunaway company! Criado is a successful, Dallas-based public infrastructure firm established in 2001 by President and CEO Cristina Criado. We are thrilled to join forces with CRIADO and continue to expand our footprint in North Texas, a region with tremendous growth potential and opportunities. Through the acquisition, Dunaway will broaden our capabilities, adding two new service lines to our in-house offerings – Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and Right of Way (ROW). Dunaway was proud to provide structural engineering services on Leland South Congress! Designed by Kirksey Architecture with interiors developed by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, this unique community consists of 270 residences and will include approximately 22,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and restaurant space anchored by a 6,000-square-foot outdoor dining paseo. The total gross area of conditioned space, parking, and amenity space is approximately 620,000 square feet, with approximately 300,000 square feet of residential area. The structure consists of 5 stories of Type III-A wood framing over a Type I-A cast-in-place concrete podium up to Level 03, with below-grade parking featuring cast-in-place construction with Concrete retaining wall. We look forward to seeing the progress made on this exciting project!
